At Monument to Fallen Jewish People on March 2, 1942, see the bronze sculptures representing Jewish prisoners who descended a slope to their deaths in a pit. Artists Leonid Levin and Elsa Polak created the layout for this sculptural group of 27 figures in 2000. Look for the figures of a violinist, children, and a pregnant woman. The inscription on the obelisk commemorates the 5,000 victims of Nazi terror who were shot and burned on the site on March 2, 1942. The reconstruction of the memorial took eight years because all the work was done by hand. Monument to Fallen Jewish People on March 2, 1942 is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Minsk Edition.

  • It's a creepy place. The pit in which the Jews were shot. Scary! Right on this pit are the windows of the dwelling house. I understand, of course, that life continues, but I would like for example was unpleasant similar neighborhood...

  • Especially as we, I think, to look for this place it is not necessary. But you want to cry in the pit and right. Maybe it is a monument to the Jews, but I associate it with all the tortured, buried and burnt alive people. A sorrowful place.
