Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park, Grand Cayman

4.2
#7 of 77 in Parks in Cayman Islands
Spot remarkable blue lizards as you stroll along winding paths at Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park. Take the trail that circumnavigates the park and keep an eye out for rare, striking blue iguanas, who wander through the gardens in all their iridescent glory. Almost extinct 20 years ago, the iguanas now thrive in the gardens thanks to a project to restore their population to safe numbers. As you meander through the colorful gardens, stop at the lake to admire rare aquatic birds, native to the region. After all that, grab some refreshments at the tea rooms and take in the wonderful park views. • Very cool spot. The blue iguanas were awesome and the parrots were fun. The plant life was incredible! A worker saw that I was trying to photograph a parrot so he drove us to a new nesting spot and also showed us some other cool things. Excellent service and excellent experience.
  • Definitely worth a trip to go on the extra cost blue iguana tour. Always visit in the morning as it gets hot quickly in the park with fewer breezes. Mention the Explorer magazine for discounted entrance & 10% off in the gift shop. Very nice people run the place.
