Recline on a riverfront beach at Paris Plage. The mayor of Paris decided to create temporary, artificial beaches each summer along the river Seine in the center of Paris and along the Bassin de la Villette. Every July and August, roadways on the banks of the Seine are blocked off and transformed into sandy beaches. You can even relax under palm trees. Unlike many French beaches, topless sunbathing is not permitted. Swimming in the Seine is not allowed for safety reasons. Every year new features are added, such as a shuttle ferry linking the two riverbanks and a floating swimming pool.
