Berlin Cathedral, Berlin

4.5
Don't miss a chance to see the city from the dome of Berlin Cathedral, one of the region's major landmarks. This imposing structure stands as if frozen in time centuries ago. But the building actually suffered massive damage during World War II and underwent extensive renovation in 1994. The biggest church in the city, this Renaissance building serves not only as a Protestant house of worship but also as a concert hall and a museum. Inside, you can see a lavish marble altar and royal tombs. The organ, with more than 7,000 pipes, often plays a starring role in concerts. Pick up an audio guide at the entrance, or arrange for a private tour of the cathedral before you make the trip. • Superb architecture inside and out and a must visit - the wow factor is worth it. The fitter individual can make the ascent to the upper viewing area (100+ steps!) for even more stunning views. The lo...  more »
  • This was probably my favourite place in all of Berlin during my 5 day stay. Entry is 7€ (5€ with Berlin Welcome Card) and includes entry to the main cathedral, to the 360° dome walkway and to the cryp...  more »
  • This building impossibly charmed me with its beauty. I traveled to Berlin with the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag and in particular that I want to see I will admit that I became aware of the existence of this monument directly in Berlin when I was buying postcards. Ta ravishingly in a postcard of the building looked like so I said that I have to see it! On the first day, we missed but the other day I convince friends that we went there even when it was terribly far away. When I arrived there and saw the building I immediately fell in love with. It is really very fotogenicka and I did a lot of Nice shots. This building is one of those shows that people know to form and not just destroy. And this creation is really impressive. We didn't go into the Interior of the lack of funds to a total of regret but we're just so happy that we were students we ever in Berlin. I encourage everyone who visits Berlin to see this wonderful building, at least from the outside, when they no longer from the inside.

  • Stunning cathedral! The entrance fee was 5 euros ( reduced price) for me and this place is huge. It will be a long walk up to the top but the view was totally worth it! If I remember correctly, it is 287 steps to the top with many places to stop on the way to have a good view of the interior of the church. There are audio guides and headphone with English and German audio of some interesting story. Do end your tour by sitting in the church and enjoy the serenity of the place.
  • I cannot recommend this enough. Many churches charge for admission and you feel like you payed for something that should have been free. Here, you definitely get what you pay for. The main place of worship takes your breath away from the beginning. The stained glass windows are amazing. 8 believe the renovations were complete in 1993 as the church got damaged during the war. It's obvious lots of care went into it. The climb to the top was absolutely worth it. Here, you can take photos without windows or other features blocking your view. It can get pretty hot on a summer day. (Like if you found this useful)
  • This is the best Cathedral Church in Berlin. Definitely worth the €7 for the entrance fees and audio guides are available for an additional €4. It is an amazing good looking exterior view made this cathedral special. I think you should visit this place while visit Berlin. The cathedral located on the bank of flowing river. you can climb to the top of the dome for a 360 degree view of Berlin (about 300 steps to the top)The special location and natural sight surrounding. The cathedral is very beautiful and it has lots of informational screens English and German explaining its history.
  • Beautiful building that backs onto the Speer. Incredible history and as dominant as any in the area. Small admission charge to get in but some might find a walk around the building sufficient. It's a stop on the hop on hop off bus tours so its easy to get to and included on your trip to museum island.
  • This is wonderful place to visit in Berlin. With amazing history and lovely artwork inside, it's a must! There is a walkway around the dome but it's around 200 steps to get to it. The audioguide has brilliant information about all aspects of the church.
