Pfaueninsel, Berlin

#2 of 16 in Nature in Berlin
Island · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
Situated along the River Havel and only accessible by a small ferry, the nature reserve of Pfaueninsel makes up part of the World Heritage Site of the Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin. The island, named after the free-roaming peacocks that live here, feels a world away from Germany's bustling capital. Besides its colorful feathered residents, the park is home to a number of other attractions, including a striking white medieval-style palace built by Friedrich Wilhelm II from 1794 to 1797. Admire the architecture and wander the grounds, where you can encounter a range of fauna alongside the peacocks. Snack shacks are located near the ferry drop-off. Take a look at our Berlin planner to schedule your visit to Pfaueninsel and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Good place, could be better with a bit innovation!
  • Loved this place. It's very beautifull and serene. My toddler found the peacocks very interesting. We had a great family day here!
