#5 of 24 in Museums in Leipzig
Art Museum · Hidden Gem · Specialty Museum
Grassi Museum welcomes visitors to the Ethnography Museum, the Musical Instruments Museum, and the Applied Arts Museum. Each has both permanent exhibits and alternating special exhibitions. Tour the Art Deco column hall, designed in shining red, gold, and blue, with its 12 ceiling-high columns. Walk through the inner courtyards, then check out the old Johannis cemetery. The permanent exhibition "From Ancient Times to Historism" covers more than 3,000 years of world art history. Many special exhibitions appear regularly throughout the year, such as the Grassi Trade Fair at the end of October. The onsite café is a nice resting spot between museums. • Museum fabulous. So much too see. Brilliant for family's children's craft activities everywhere so good for a family day out. Only negative. Museum coffee shop staff were so rude as I spoke no German purposely gave us wrong coffees I' resorted to speaking Gaelic as there was no attempt to want to correct their error I'd to advertise through language that I was Irish not English but we paid and left without taking a sip. Great Museum Bad coffee shop staff from counter to floor staff STRANGE.
  • A very nice museum with excellent collection. I also liked the way displays were placed - good lights and bright red walls.
