While millions of tourists flock to the city for its world-famous beer festival, few find their way to the tranquil Schloss Nymphenburg. Renowned architect Agostino Barelli designed this sprawling, 200 hectare (490 acre) garden oasis, which was completed in 1675. The palace once served as the summer residence of Bavarian kings. The facade was redesigned in the French Baroque style in 1716, and now is about 700 m (2,300 ft) wide. You can visit both the gardens and their several museums. The most notable one, inside the former royal stables, contains one of the biggest horse carriage collections in Europe. Regular guided tours aren't available, but you can pick up an informative audio guide at the site's entrance. Schloss Nymphenburg Reviews
Auf jeden Fall sehenswert. Audioguide empfohlen. Im muss der Schlossgarten ein Traum sein. Der Marstall war einfach umwerfend. more »Definitely worth a visit. Audio guide recommended. In the castle garden must be a dream. The stables was simply amazing.
У любого гостя Мюнхена в планах должна быть поезда в этот замечательный дворец. Даже не могу назвать его музеем. Все настолько оригинально и красиво, словно возвращаешься в то время, когда он был чьим... more »Any guest of Munich's plans should be a train in this wonderful Palace. Can't even call it a museum. Everything is so original and beautiful, like back in the time when it was someone else's House. Unfortunately, not all corners of this beautiful castle is open to visitors, but you will be seen. Tell something about its surrounding territory just pointless, it's a must see! Recommend to plan your journey in summer or late spring, when all the vastness of this estate are filled with greenery. White Swan float channels on one shore of the pond, ducks swim on the other geese. Throughout the scattered small houses, which includes full ticket only (I recommend it). Be sure to take your audio guide. In order to fully immerse yourself in the history of this place!
Stunning palace! Well worth a visit! The interior of the great hall is amazing. The place can be very crowded at times so maybe it would be better earlier in the morning. The grounds are beautiful and you could walk for over an hour. It would be great for a picnic etc. Be aware all liquids are forbidden inside but may be stored in a locker. The palace itself isn't very big so I felt a little underwhelmed but the gardens made up for it. Make sure you have your ticket throughout as I lost mine and couldn't visit the botanical gardens
I only went around the grounds, which are beautiful. There are formal gardens, woods and parkland. The first of the two pictures I have posted shows, I hope, the length of the formal garden. The palace, toward the top centre looks far away because it is. The second picture was taken by the lake near the pagoda. It shows wasps, I think, feeding on moss on a rock at the water's. This fascinated me as you can tell. You can walk round these grounds for days, sadly I only had a few hours. Loved it
