Sanssouci Palace was the summer residence of the King of Prussia, Frederick the Great. Admire the palace's grand Rococo architecture, and stroll through landscaped gardens filled with fountains and marble statues. On the castle hill, you can find the king's tomb. Marvel at the opulent furnishings throughout. The Voltaire Room's woodcarvings of apes, parrots, cranes, storks, fruits, and flowers are a particular highlight. You can explore the palace on a guided tour in German or via audio guide (available in English); both are scheduled, so check the times when you arrive. Put Sanssouci Palace and other Potsdam attractions into our Potsdam travel itinerary planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

Sanssouci Palace reviews
Built by Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, as his summer palace. Frederick's grave is actually there , together with the graves of his dogs. A must visit place. more »
This is built in mid 1700s and is commissioned by Frederick the Great as his summer palace. The palace is beautifully built. Loved the yellow and green colour combination. more »
This place can be called a must have for any tourist who visited as Potsdam in general, as this park especially. Beautiful architecture of the palace itself. It is very large and stands on a hill with a huge garden near it that looks like giant stairs. In the center of the garden is a large fountain. Although in itself it is not very beautiful, but it is surrounded by beautiful sculptures and benches for relaxation. You can either walk along the tiers of this beautiful green garden and sit by the fountain, or go up to the palace and sit in one of two beautiful arbors at its edges. One symbolizes the Sun, the other - the Moon (metal Sun and the Moon hang on them). And you can go to the museum's shop that is on the other side of the palace, near the entrance. And, in fact, you can visit the museum itself inside the palace. Everyone can take an audio guide in several languages. In the group where I was, there were definitely audio guides in Russian and English, for example. This museum is big. Should you visit this museum? ... Perhaps yes, I can recommend this place to anyone who at least loves art and who is at least a little interested in history, as this place has many interesting exhibits about which the audio guide tells some interesting things.
If you want to feel as an aristocrat you should visit this place. Beautiful castle in rococo stile with respect to every detail. It seems like the best place for kings' parties. The view to the garden is marvelous! Take a walk and discover it yourself!
