At Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace, visit the villain's residence from the 1983 James Bond movie, Octopussy. Explore the hilltop palatial residence which overlooks one of four lakes surrounding the city. Built in 1884 on marble pillars at an elevation of 944m (3,100 ft), the palace got its name because of the thick monsoon clouds which cover the hills. Initially, the palace was meant to be an astronomical center and a resort for the royal family, but King Maharana Sajjan Singh died prematurely and never finished the project. It was completed by his successor Maharana Fateh Singh, who loved watching monsoon clouds. I'd say an over rated place to see a sunset, there are better places to get a better view of sunset. It is a short drive uphill so better if you have your vehicle, didn't see many autos or cabs... more »

I have really loved this place. Here the entry fee is Rs 55 and charges for both sided cab is Rs 95. And yes don't think about doing the hike as it's very far. You may take your car also by paying Rs 200. There is another gate here for the biological park. The road to palace is thrilling. The best part is the view of the udaipur city and lakes is breathtaking. There is a water facility here. And the sunset view is amazing. But you can visit anytime. There are lots of monkeys so be careful. There is one restaurant also but the food quality is average. It's a must visit as it's not as much crowded as City palace.
