Trip Planner: Europe / Romania / Transylvania / Central Romania / Brasov County / Bran / Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle)
Originally built in the 14th century, Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) draws visitors because of its association with the bloodthirsty 15th-century Romanian ruler, Vlad the Impaler. The castle served as a fortress guarding the mountain pass and was advertised as the home of the ruler--also known as Dracul (the devil), who inspired the legend of Dracula. Perched on a rock above the river, the site offers panoramic views of the mountains. Today, its interiors feature art and furniture that belonged to the last Romanian Queen, Marie. Different rooms house some historical writings and the royal family tree. Check out an open-air museum in the park at the bottom of the hill with traditional Romanian peasant cottages and barns. Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) reviews

I had higher expectations from the Bran Castel. We paid 80 lei for a tour that seemed more like the House of Micky mouse instead of the Dracula Castle. Really really disappointed, the price is not... more »
What an amazing day out! The castle is absolutely beautiful with lots of useful information throughout. Entry is very reasonably priced (£20 for three of us) and there's a great range of Dracula-based gifts on sale. One of the best castles I've been to. A nice coffee shop and cafe on site with adorable resident cats. If you love the book Dracula, this is such an interesting place to visit!
Not big enough although it was interesting. Nice place, nice view. There many areas that you are not allowed to get inside but it has very interesting decoration. Good value for the visit. I enjoyed the kiosks around it too much, Very interesting food! And the prices are not very bad. It was a little cheaper from the center of bucharest even though is a tourist place. I recommend it 💓
