Walk the 500-year-old halls of the impressive Barcelona Cathedral. Constructed in the 13th century, the Gothic cathedral features a main hall vaulted over five aisles, with dozens of high columns. Saunter the grand hall to admire the high ceilings and ornate altar decor, or wander out to the main cloister where 13 white geese are kept as part of the cathedral’s tradition. Try to spot the famous gargoyles that line the cathedral’s roof and main facade. Barcelona Cathedral Reviews
It cost 7 EUR to visit the cathedral and there are limited hours to enter. There is a lot to see. We spent at least 90 minutes inside visiting all the side chapels, the roof top and the cloister with ... more »
We stumbled upon this when wanting to visit the Gothic Quarter. It was a reasonable price to get into the cathedral, I think it was €8 each. The cathedral inside was beautiful, intricate, atmospheric ... more »
Sure, it's pretty. But it's just another Gothic style church. Except here they have the modesty police selling shawls to cover shoulders and legs (no refunds) and then you have to pay 7€ entry fee. It's the first time I've ever seen a church charge for entry! For those who read the book Cathedral By The Sea, this is NOT that cathedral. That is Santa Maria del Mar which is close by and free to visit. For a church built by volunteers, it's a sin to charge an entry fee. There are also stalls selling candles and other religious objects in the square in front of the church. Didn't Jesus knock over the stands in front of the temple?
It is absolutely not a tourist trap. 7 bucks to see a beautiful church and a gorgeous rooftop was beautiful. The places that charge 25 euro per person for a view are a tourist trap. This one was entirely worth the inside and rooftop. Also it was completed in 1420. Go later in the day on a weekday no line.
