Cartuja de Miraflores, Burgos

#1 of 8 in Parks in Burgos
Once the summer residence of the Spanish monarchy, Cartuja de Miraflores is a peaceful monastery with breathtaking interiors. Although there are monks that reside and study here in a life of silence, you will probably never see them. There is plenty more to discover, however. Some highlights include the intricate altarpiece and the royal mausoleum of King John II and his wife. Don’t miss the video depicting artwork once stolen from the monastery. Getting here can be difficult without private transportation, but it’s possible to take a bus and walk a short distance to the attraction. Take a look at our Burgos online trip planner to schedule your visit to Cartuja de Miraflores and learn about what else to see and do during your holiday.

  • Admission is free, although donations are accepted. It is advisable to take a brochure that offers you for 1st that explains where you are going to pass. It's not very big, but it's very pretty, especially the beautiful altarpiece it has. Do not forget on the way out see a small chapel and a small fountain that is on the other side. The altarpiece, if you pay 1o more, they enlighten you, and the truth is that it is worth paying for it. On the way out there is a mini-shop where they sell things that monks do.

  • A very well preserved place. Just for admiring and enjoying watching its spectacular altarpiece live is worth the visit.
