  • We drove from Salamanca to Aldeadavila de la Ribera, it is around 1h 20 min. We passed the village and easily parked on the field road, closer to the river. We went for around 16 km walk around the ri...  more »
  • The landscape of the canyons is beautiful but you've seen a couple of viewpoints, you've seen them all. The environment is overrated. roads in poor conditions, insufficient indications and almost non-existent tourism services. Difficult is to find a gas station, a pharmacy, a doctor's office, Some simple rural accommodations and enough, you look at it and want to find where to eat (and expensive), or find a gas station etc. We made the route of the entire Douro, from Miranda do Douro to Saucelles, some specific point may seem more spectacular, the rest once seen is not to repeat. Most villages have no interest and those that are advertised as Historic Set as is the case of Fermoselle is disappointing, all poorly preserved, the houses falling, all abandoned and the houses that are arranged have done it mostly with very bad taste, aluminum windows and doors, modern garage doors, antennas, air conditioners etc. Unfortunate. They should remove the Historical Set declarations the same as they are granted. In short, the area deserves to be visited because the landscape deserves it (in some areas) but it is not to repeat.
