Overlooking the Strait of Dover, the narrowest point of the English Channel, Calais is a major port for ferry traffic between France and England as the closest French town to Dover.
Visit Cran d'Escalles and Plage de Gravelines for some beach relaxation. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at La Cite De La Dentelle Et De La Mode De Calais and Musee de la Ceramique a Desvres. The adventure continues: stop by Majestic Wine Calais, steep yourself in history at Tour du Guet, pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Notre-Dame, and admire the masterpieces at Musée des Beaux-Arts de Calais.
