A global center of finance and transportation, Frankfurt is perhaps best known for its futuristic cityscape.
Step out of Frankfurt with an excursion to Würzburg Residence in Wurzburg--about 1h 25 min away. And it doesn't end there: admire the masterpieces at Stadel Museum, take in nature's colorful creations at Palmengarten, steep yourself in history at Goethe House, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of St. Bartholomew (Dom St. Bartholomaus).

Start off your visit on the 13th (Mon): make a trip to Stephansplatz, step into the grandiose world of Schonbrunn Palace, then examine the collection at The Hofburg, then contemplate the long history of Chapel of St. Virgil, and finally make a trip to St. Stephen's Cathedral. Keep things going the next day: meet the residents at Schönbrunn Zoo, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Augustinerkirche, then admire the masterpieces at Albertina, and finally explore the world behind art at Kunsthistorisches Museum Wien.

You can drive from Munich to Vienna in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of train and flight. In April in Vienna, expect temperatures between 61°F during the day and 42°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Oswiecim.

Known to most by its German name Auschwitz, the modestly sized city of Oswiecim sits at the foot of the Jura Mountains, just 50 km (30 mi) west of Krakow.
You've now added Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau to your itinerary. Get out of town with these interesting Oswiecim side-trips: Wadowice (Family Home of John Paul II & John Paul II Square in Wadowice), Monument to Bolek i Lolek (in Bielsko-Biala) and Muzeum Zamkowe w Pszczynie (in Pszczyna). The adventure continues: appreciate the extensive heritage of Old Market Square, take an in-depth tour of Jewish Museum and Synagogue, walk around Planty Park, and make a trip to Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
