As the capital and largest city of Belarus, Minsk represents a cultural center full of churches, libraries, museums, and theatres.
Venture out of the city with trips to Dudutki Museum Complex (in Ptich), Holy Spring of St. Nicholas (in Lahojsk) and Mound of Glory (in Slabada). There's still lots to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Church of Saints Simon and Helena, get in on the family fun at Gorky Central Park, get engrossed in the history at Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Holy Spirit Cathedral.

Bucharest, Romania to Minsk is an approximately 9-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. The time zone changes from Eastern European Standard Time to Moscow Standard Time, which is usually a 1 hour difference. In October, Minsk is a bit cooler than Bucharest - with highs of 11°C and lows of 2°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) early enough to go by car to Polotsk.

The capital city of the region of the same name, Grodno (also called Hrodna) was built around the river flowing through it, and is known as a hub for the arts celebrating both modern and classical culture with three major theaters, a philharmonic society, and a multitude of museums.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Grodno: Melovyye Kar'yery (in Karpovtsy), Wolf Monument (in Vawkavysk) and Church of St. Andrew the Apostle (in Slonim).
