Take a break from the city and head to Ali Mountain (Alishan) and Hehuan Mountain (Hehuanshan). Get some historical perspective at Wenwu Temple and Lugang Old Street. Explore Nantou's surroundings by going to Pusasi (in Dali), Lukang (in Lukang) and Rainbow Village Taichung (in Nantun). There's still lots to do: delve into the lush surroundings at Sun-Link-Sea Forest and Nature Resort, contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Moon Lake, examine the collection at 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan, and look for all kinds of wild species at Gaomei Wetland.

Relax by the water at Seaside Park and Siao Liou Ciou Ge Ban Bay Beach Venice Beach. Your inner history buff will appreciate Fo Guang Shan and Lungshan Temple. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Kaohsiung: Chihkan Tower (Fort Provintia) (in West Central District), Chimei Museum (in Rende) and Anping Tree House (in Anping). Drive from Alishan to Kaohsiung in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of taxi and bus; or do a combination of taxi and train. In November in Kaohsiung, expect temperatures between 34°C during the day and 25°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 17th (Tue) so you can travel to Magong.
