Protected from the Atlantic by sand spits and barrier islands, Lagos quickly grew into a mega city due to its location, and currently operates one of the continent's largest and busiest ports.
Start off your visit on the 13th (Wed): look for all kinds of wild species at Lekki Conservation Centre and then kick back and relax at Elegushi Beach. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 14th (Thu): browse the different shops at Ikeja City Mall, browse the eclectic array of goods at Lekki Market, and then contemplate the long history of Freedom Park.

If you are flying in from Nigeria, the closest major airport is Murtala Muhammed International Airport. In November, plan for daily highs up to 38°C, and evening lows to 28°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) early enough to travel to Abidjan.

As Cote d'Ivoire's largest city and economic hub, Abidjan boasts the reputation of West Africa's party capital, while its rich culture remains evident in its numerous film festivals and a booming music scene.
Change things up with a short trip to Musee National des Costumes in Grand Bassam (about 58 minutes away). There's much more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at St. Paul's Cathedral, take in nature's colorful creations at Jardin botanique de Bingerville, have some family-friendly fun at Dream Zone Virtual Reality, and take a stroll through The Plateau.
