Pripyat is a ghost town in northern Ukraine, near the border with Belarus.Named after the nearby Pripyat River, Pripyat was founded on 4 February 1970, as the ninth nuclear city (a type of closed city) in the Soviet Union, to serve the nearby Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Venture out of the city with trips to Mizhrichynskyi Regional Landscape Park (in Kozelets) and Chernobyl (St. Elijah Church & Chernobyl Go). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Reactor No 4, get in on the family fun at Pripyat Amusement Park, and expand your understanding of the military at Duga Radar Russian Woodpecker.
