Pripyat is a ghost town in northern Ukraine, near the border with Belarus.Named after the nearby Pripyat River, Pripyat was founded on 4 February 1970, as the ninth nuclear city (a type of closed city) in the Soviet Union, to serve the nearby Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. Explore Pripyat's surroundings by going to Mizhrichynskyi Regional Landscape Park (in Kozelets) and Chernobyl (St. Elijah Church & Chernobyl Go). There's much more to do: don't miss a visit to Reactor No 4, expand your understanding of the military at Duga Radar Russian Woodpecker, and find something for the whole family at Pripyat Amusement Park.

To see where to stay, more things to do, maps, and other tourist information, refer to the Pripyat online route planner .

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major airports are Kiev Zhuliany International Airport and Boryspil International Airport. In April, daily temperatures in Pripyat can reach 18°C, while at night they dip to 5°C. On the 10th (Fri), you're off tohome.
