Tucked high in the Pyrenees and home to fewer than 65,000 residents, Andorra La Vella seems at first an unlikely tourist hotspot.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Esglesia de Sant Miquel d'Engolasters and Sant Cristofol d'Anyos Church. Sant Marti de La Cortinada and Sant Serni de Nagol Church will appeal to history buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Andorra la Vella side-trips: Canillo (Port d'Incles, Pic de la Serrera, & more), Les Abelletes Lake Trail (in Pas de la Casa) and Ordino (Ordino Arcalis, Estany de l'Estanyo, & more). On the 24th (Sun), spend an exhilarating day on the slopes at Grandvalira Ski Resort. On the 8th (Fri), spend an exhilarating day on the slopes at Ski Parador Canaro. Next up on the itinerary: tour the pleasant surroundings at Sola Irrigation Canal Trail, hit the slopes at Coll d'Ordino, examine the collection at Miniature Museum, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Sant Corneli y Sant Cebria.
