As Cote d'Ivoire's largest city and economic hub, Abidjan boasts the reputation of West Africa's party capital, while its rich culture remains evident in its numerous film festivals and a booming music scene.
Venture out of the city with trips to Grand Bassam (Musee National des Costumes & Pont De La Victoire). Spend the 4th (Wed) exploring nature at Banco National Park. Sarnia, Canada to Abidjan is an approximately 26-hour flight. The time zone changes from Eastern Standard Time (EST) to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), which is usually a 5 hour difference. Unlike many of the world's cities with infrastructure trying to keep up with population, Yamoussoukro has no such problem--many of the city's sprawling six-lane highways and hotels were built before anybody lived here.
Kick off your visit on the 6th (Fri): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Grande Mosquee, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Basilica of Our Lady of Peace, then get a sense of history and politics at Palais Presidentiel, and finally look for all kinds of wild species at Abokouamekro Game Reserve.

You can drive from Abidjan to Yamoussoukro in 2.5 hours. Another option is to take a train. In August, plan for daily highs up to 35°C, and evening lows to 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 6th (Fri) so you can drive to Assinie.
