With the backdrop of granite boulders and surrounded by trees of Siberian larch, Manzshir Monastery features remains of an 18th-century Buddhist structure demolished by communists in 1937. Scattered over the mountain slope, the remains include 17 buildings, some cave paintings, and carvings that survived the destruction. On old photographs, displayed in a restored building, you can see how the place looked before it was ruined. The reconstructed main temple serves as a museum, while the surrounding area offers hiking opportunities and scenic views.
